Job Developer

 

Hours:                  Typically Monday – Thursday with some weekend hours for Job Developer events

Status:                  Full Time, Exempt

Reports to:         Business Services Supervisor

 

Purpose:

Under the supervision of the Business Services Supervisor, this position is responsible for providing clients with information about current employment trends and employment opportunities.  Responsible for initiating and maintaining ongoing relationships with employers, job development and employer support.  Refers well-matched clients to various employers within the community whenever possible and appropriate.  Will also coordinate Job Club and related activities, and assist with the Job Seeking skills workshops.

 

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Provides clients with information about various employment programs/job openings in the community and outlying rural areas.
  2. Job Development/Employer Support: Initiates and maintains ongoing professional contacts with a variety of business and industry representatives, and job placement and training agencies to promote programs for client referrals.
  3. Conduct cold calls to potential employers.  Explain the benefits and employment support services provided by programs to employers, including addressing any special needs the employer might have.
  4. Research newspapers, agency websites, and other resources for job leads.  Locate jobs for clients who have successfully completed the training programs. 
  5. Collect data from employers related to job orders, including job requirements and skills, matching job skills with applicant qualifications, referring qualified applicants to employers, conduct follow-up when applicants are placed in a position.
  6. Conduct outreach and recruitment activities, including attending job fairs, hiring events and utilizing internet resources.  Research various resume writing programs, and assist clients with resume writing techniques.
  7. Must meet monthly measured outcomes in employer recruitment, and maintain a placement rate of 60% or better. 
  8. Conduct ongoing individual interviews to ascertain the progress of client’s job search and their current skill level.
  9. Assists in the preparation and typing of resumes for clients, as needed.
  10. Screen and provide eligible clients with Health and Work Card vouchers, as needed.
  11. Assist with job seeking skills workshops.
  12. Co-coordinate post program follow-up activities to track client employment progress.
  13. Submit monthly reports of all job/employer activities.
  14. Participate in community projects that are scheduled to promote the program or HELP of Southern Nevada, as needed.
  15. Conduct Business/Employer assessments and presentations to develop Memorandum of Understanding for business relations and client employment opportunities.
  16. Program Manager and Quality Assurance team with outreach, research, communication, and attainment of information from local Businesses, Employers, and Community partners as applicable.
  17. Assist with quality assurance and file maintenance tracking and reporting process by providing the Case managers with business/employer satisfaction surveys, input and concerns reports.
  18. Coordinate and complete WEX and OJT Employer’s Business Profiles, job descriptions, participant hire packets, Supervisor’s Agreements, timesheets and all other related paperwork and documentation. Including OSOS data entry.
  19. Assist with holiday projects, as needed.
  20. Other duties, as may be assigned.

 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Must have the ability to assist clients with identifying their individual job related skills.
  2. Must be familiar with the agency and its programs, in order to maintain a high level of customer service to clients who are seeking assistance through our various programs.
  3. Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  4. Must be able to accurately assess clients’ strengths and weaknesses for employment potential.
  5. Must have the ability to relate well to all levels of business decision makers and/or hiring authorities. 
  6. Must be familiar with regulatory hiring guidelines, federal and local employment laws, interview techniques and job placement procedures.
  7. Must be able to work independently, or as part of a team.
  8. Public speaking skills.  Must have the ability to speak to a group of clients or community partners, in a classroom or lab setting, standing for extended periods of time.
  9. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office programs, general office equipment; Web based tracking, EmployNV, Elogic Genesis, and/or HMIS data systems.

 

 

Qualifications, Education and/or Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field and/or 3 years’ experience, or any combination of education and related experience.
  2. Must pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.  Random drug screenings are performed.
  3. Must have a current NV driver’s license and clean DMV record.  Driver History Reports are required to be submitted on a quarterly basis.

 

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in an office environment, with driving required at times.  May be subject to sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, squatting, pushing and pulling, and simple grasping.
