Reports to:                         Chief Social Services Officer

 

Purpose:

Under the direct supervision of the Chief Social Services Officer, this position oversees one or more of HELP of Southern Nevada’s homeless services housing programs.

 

Duties, Functions, and Responsibilities:

  1. Provide direction and supervision to program staff, and provide hands-on assistance, to assist them, in carrying out their assigned duties.
  2. Prepare employee goals, to improve employee development and quality of care to customers, to include consumers, peers, and external community contacts.
  3. Meet/Call clients who are having issues with their Case Manager.
  4. Provide training on files, procedures, and service requests, for all new hires and direct reports.
  5. Run reports to ensure that all data is entered in true time (daily).
  6. Run reports to ensure that all services are properly entered into HMIS.
  7. Attend various community meetings.
  8. Assist staff in assessing potential referrals, and directs individuals to services.
  9. Verifies all rental requests are correct and free from errors.
  10. Other duties, as may be assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  1. Knowledge of local social service agencies and programs, as they pertain to the local homeless population.
  2. Knowledge of applicable statutes, ordinances, and codes.
  3. Knowledge of social service work, and interviewing/referral techniques.
  4. Skill in planning, developing, and performing interviews and other related activities.
  5. Skill is resolving problems, or situations requiring the exercise of good judgement.
  6. Skill in communicating clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
  7. Ability to work with diverse consumer populations.
  8. Ability to provide customer services effectively and courteously, under high-pressure circumstances.
  9. Professional competence in creating databases and working effectively using Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Power Point, and Access.
  10. Ability to enter and extract data to/from an automated database.
  11. Ability to perform basic math calculations.

 

Qualifications, Education, and/or Equivalent Experience:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, or related field.
  2. Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory role, in a professional or social services setting.
  3. Must have a valid NV driver’s license and clean DMV record.  Driver History Reports are submitted on a quarterly basis.
  4. Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and fingerprint based background check.  Random drug testing is performed.
